Welcome to the Romero Catholic Worker
We are a new community in Wichita, KS inspired by the rich traditions of the Catholic Worker Movement and its founders Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin.
We believe in a personalist philosophy of life, considering the responsibility of our brothers and sisters needs as our own. Our foundation is the words of Jesus in Matthew 25 and the Beatitudes. Our rule of life is the Works of Mercy.
We follow the teachings of the Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ some two thousand years ago. We care for the land, because it is one of the greatest gifts God has given us. We support a local economy where we consume what we make and grow. We welcome everyone that comes to our door as our neighbor.
Why do we talk about houses of hospitality, bread lines, and farming communes and the necessity of taking care of our poorer brother? Because the greatest hypocrisy is this, to say to our brother in need, “Go, be now filled,” and give him no bread.
